“My name is Jacqueline, and for several years I had limited mobility after a series of surgeries on my lower back; I tried many things to regain some of my strength and flexibility, some workouts focused too much on flexibility that I didn't have the strength to maintain, and others focused too much on strength, which caused my muscles to contract sending me into a series of muscle spasms and pinched nerves. After many failed attempts to find something that would free me from the limitations of my own body, I was almost ready to resign myself to having the mobility of a 70 year old in my 30s.
Then I began taking private training lessons with Seaforth Martial Arts Centre. I had some trepidation that I might not be able to keep up, but Sr. Instructor Trina Seaforth & Master Seaforth were very supportive and encouraging, they took the time to listen to my concerns and understand the physical challenges with which I was dealing. They created a workout that was geared to my specific needs and goals, one that constantly challenges me and gives me visible signs of my progress while also limiting the chance of physical injury, and they make all of it so much fun, it's the most enjoyable workout I've ever done.
Within three months I began noticing some serious changes in my body. I could touch my toes again for the first time in nearly ten years, but so much more than that. I was suddenly finding strength, energy and confidence that I didn't know that I had.
